Fuchi,

I don't think we will see M3 in 1998. It will probably be introduced at the Microprocesor Forum, and hopefully, it will appear in 1H 99.

There are a lot of unknowns. We don't know how good NSM will be at making CPU chips. They are still new at it. Just look at AMD.

We heard that they can make M2 at 233 MHz and up in their R&D fab. Let's see if they can bring it to full production in Q2.

Another unknown is MXi. Is it going to be delayed in order to make it compatible with AMD MMX? Tape out was supposed to be about this time. I don't think it can happen if the instruction set is still in state of flux.

We don't know what part of 2H 98 MXi will actually be released in.

Will there be an MXi minus audio, video etc? I would welcome M2+ with new core and fast floating point. Could the chip undergoing the testing at NSM test fab be this new animal or is it just a shrink of the M2 to .25

Will NSM liberate Cyrix from the PR rating? If NSM can close the MHz deficit, we will see some Tier 1 OEMs for the mainstream CPU product.

I guess the only thing that is known at this time is MediaGX. I think Cyrix has over-delivered so far as far as capabilities and speed is concerned. Let's hope the number of chips sold shoots up in upcoming quarters.

Joe
