2/13/15 Contest update
More cause for triskaidekaphobia? TRIL, the most widely held Contest portfolio stock, was picked by 13 contestants. Today, Friday the 13th, TRIL was cursed with a 5.36% loss.
Despite TRIL’s misfortune, the Contest median had a winning week and closed Friday up 9.16% YTD (vs. up 6.32% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Biotech Index also gained, closing up 6.50% YTD (vs. up 4.09% YTD a week ago), as did the Nasdaq Composite Index, closing up 3.33% YTD (vs. up .18% YTD a week ago).
We have a new leader! OLIVIER’s portfolio, loaded with 9 European exchange listed stocks, managed to take first place with a 43.64% YTD gain. GENE’s portfolio, up 42.18% YTD, slipped to second place, while OHM’s portfolio, up 34.09% YTD, kept a grip on third place.
At Friday's close, 40 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the black with 31 of the 51 beating the NBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 8.48%
