Mohan: Every once in a while, the gods really do smile on the Darth Vader fraternity. I refrained from playing last minute MU earnings roulette, mainly due to a concern that the company might play accounting games. They did, (love that inventory carried at cost of production), but results were still in the ditch. I also worried that the near term option expiry might see additional games. Tomorrow, the possibility of a short squeeze may allow this "air plant" to bubble up to an even more rarified altitude....I'll happily hand them a bit more, should this happen, and will continue to give them more (in the true holiday spirit of "giving"), should the lambs bid it up. It never pays to look a gift horse in the mouth, and any rally here is a true gift to the more patient shorts. Happiness is a Christmas rally even as the negative pre-announcements pour in.
I'm with you in maintaining the watch on INTC. Any day now, Andrew is going to feel the need to summon the faithful to the church for a bit of hell-fire and brimstone. That sermon ought to dampen the bullish holiday enthusiasm. INTC is in serious trouble. Once this becomes an item, "Intel influenza", a contagious virus, nor unlike and definately related to the "Asian contagion", will spread.
Retail PC sales have not come close to meeting expectations. It's not easy to match or beat last year's revenues (never mind profits) when two sales must be made to match last year's easier single sale. Few retailers are looking forward to the coming January doldrums.
I think the bears are about to lunch on Goldilocks
