Bush never said it was about 911.

Bush was totally clear to anyone who listened. Which, apparently, you didn't.

It was about WMD's, which every western intelligence agency, and every influential Democrat believed he had. It was about the support for terrorism and the potential to expand it. It was about his unwillingness to comply with the terms of the 1991 Gulf War cease fire agreement, which included conducting a low-grade war against the United States for a decade. It was about having led Clinton around by the nose for eight years, and saying, simply, enough is enough.

And it was about creating an opportunity for Iraqis to be free and a kind of "Arab Spring" which GWB presumed would be handled competently by his successor. Which, of course, was totally squandered by Obama's abject incompetence.

There were plenty of excellent reasons for having taken Saddam out, any one of which was adequate.
