I don't know that and think people who speak casually of it are being idiotic. You have no idea how dependent on fossil fuels our civilization is. It's not even just a matter of fuel. You're probably wearing something made from fossil fuels and have a computer in front of you with a case made from them. Sure, there are substitutes but they're expensive because nature has concentrated the valuable stuff for us in the form of fossil fuels. That the people who talk about eliminating fossil fuels are also anti-nuclear just shows how unserious they are intellectually. That the people who say they WANT to eliminate fossil fuels haven't is telling imo.
