Ted, I'm astounded at what Obama just said leading up to his "violent extremism" summit:

news.yahoo.com
"Groups like al-Qaida and ISIL exploit the anger that festers when people feel that injustice and corruption leave them with no chance of improving their lives," Obama wrote in an op-ed article Wednesday in the Los Angeles Times. "The world has to offer today's youth something better."
Really? As if we don't already offer them something better? As if we don't already give them a chance to improve their lives?

This is why Obama's rhetoric turns me off. He is never specific when it comes to the "hope" and "change" that he always talks about.

What exactly do we offer these youths who are in danger of turning to violent extremism? I already know the conservative answer, which is, "The promise not to kill you for becoming a terrorist," but what's the liberal answer? Jobs? Equality? Elimination of poverty?

I don't think any of that is going to resonate within the mind of an extremist.
