Hi Michael....
Somewhat off "thread",
I have made access during emergency situations from the ship...when you do it yourself (which isn't easy, as I have an incompatible modem!!!) it costs about $ 12.50 per minute, double the price you have quoted.
In fact, I even have to pay to *get* emails, and they are charged to me at the rate of $ 3 each. Of course, for that $ 3, I am entitled to 5000 characters, which is enough to cover two pages. Accordingly, if you have to send me something (that is going to cost me part of my next Simula interest payment!), you better use up two entire pages to do so. Otherwise, I am being shortchanged. BTW, if you can't think of anything to fill up a short email, please send me all the available data on Sunday's Giant's game. <Guffaws>
I will still be posting here until the morning of the 21st, so I can be reached for the next few days in the standard way. After that, I only hope for a "no news" environment.
There was one occasion a few years ago where I went on a one-week cruise with my wife, leaving after the close on a Friday with not a thing going on, and nothing else *expected* to go on. Wrong. Important news on one of my positions on Monday, and I spent the next five days in my cabin (my wife enjoyed the sights, however, but I never left my room) running up my phone bill at $ 12.50 per minute, selling nearly a half million shares of a stock for my clients.
Ugh. What a "vacation." And the killer? The phone use cost me more than my share of the fare!
Let's hope that isn't the case this time. <G> |
