Dear Mr. Gilder: After reviewing my subscription of Gilder Technology
Report, I have a few questions to which you may be kind enough to respond:

1. In February you wrote, "The major challenge for the computer industry is to
change its focus from a few hundred million offices already full of
computer technology to a billion living rooms now nearly devoid of it."
In your opinion, has there been significant movement in that direction since February?
I understand that you do not think highly of WebTV. What about Silicon
Graphics' Nintendo chip?

2. In the December issue where you review DSP, TI is the only company
mentioned. What about LSI Logic? Have you changed your opinion about
LSI? Is there newer developments in the arena of "system on a chip"?

3. I have been much intrigued with your assessment that "As communicators
move up spectrum, they can use bandwidth as a substitute for power, memory,
and switching." I don't think you have enlightened us as to exactly how
that might play out in data communication. For example, what will be
the relative importance of routers/switches vs cache servers.

Your response will be much appreciated.
