YOU MUST HAVE A GRILL ON FRONT

While it may seem counterintuitive there may be a very good explanation. In any electric car you must have a cooling system for the electric motors. They can get incredibly hot and the heat has to be removed or the motors would melt.

Since the two high pressure areas are the front of the vehicle and the base of the windshield, they would be the logical locations to capture the cooling air. The cooling air for the motors comes from the front of the vehicle, and the air for the passenger compartment comes from the base of the windshield. You don't want the passenger compartment air coming from the engine compartment because exhaust levels (from other vehicles) are much higher there as it is lower to the ground. And you don't want the engine cooling air to come from the base of the windshield because there is more pressure from the front of the vehicle so the cooling capability is better. You could certainly minimize the grill by trying to capture the high pressure air under a pointy front end, but then you run afoul of crash and pedestrian impact considerations.

So, grills on electric vehicles makes perfect sense.
