I don't know of any "wingers" but I do know something about how to avoid conflicts of interest. The reality is that academia is chocked full of such conflicts, because so many of these people are promoting their own versions of science. Nowhere is it more apparent than in the global warming charade. Which is pretty evident to anyone who is thoughtful about it.

Without the Global Warming "crisis", many of these people are unemployed and unemployable. That is an immutable fact and one which the scientific community really needs to address if they care to have any credibility.

They don't care, though. Because it has now moved to the realm of politics where the flow of money from the Left to the lobby is crucial and will make or break the issue as a political power grab.
