Fifty years ago last sunday, 15feb, the Red Ensign was taken from us by a gang of demented big-L Liberals, who put out their own design, stripped of any shred of blue to signify truth because of its association with tory elements, stripped of anything resembling heritage of the people who built this country [plurality of whom are represented by the Cross of St Andrew - it wasn't dainty home-counties types who did the groundwork] ... and thrust on us instead the 'modern' one in that poverty-stricken ghastly shade of 'red', aargh

Hellyer as minister of defence 'unified' the military around the same time, that's what they called it anyway ... stripped RCN and RCAF of their Royal designations, poof all gone, after outstanding performance two decades previous ... those who remember him for that may be amused by what he's up to now, sounds like he wants to 'unify' us with aliens, the extraterrestrial kind

Anyway, for somebody new to this stuff, and wondering what that 'logo' is in the header, yup it's the Red Ensign ... note the fleurs-de-lis, specific inclusion of the french who dominated politics at the time it was taken away ... and look at the warmth, the richness, of colour - this is not your washed-out poofter half-orange, this is a Red -

... which comes to mind partly from a post Cheeky put up on canuck free for all [which i couldn't reco due to certain overdone tones and sentiments, otherwise would have], and partly due to his employer's campaign to put gaudy bright cartooney stuff on the subjectmarks page, where it very clearly and obviously does not belong, much as they want to call it the 'modern version' [like the Edsel was, and bell-bottom trousers were, presumably] ... but they wanted one on threads, so i figured hey, why not one with some depth to it, some class ...
