I won't disagree, but applying your example as the rule suffers the same fate. The value is to realize that there are different answers to different problems and to open your mind to both defining what is happening and what might result/fix. When I was selling my home a few years ago it was listed near the bottom of similar like homes. We were getting few lookers and after several months none. Our agent implored us to lower the price but I couldn't see how that would help as we already were so cheap. Against his advice we RAISED the price 50,000. We had two offers within the week at the full (previous) asking price.
