The wash sale rules apply only to identical or "substantially identical" securities. No problem selling AMD and buying Intel; MIGHT be (probably would be) an issue selling INTCW and buying INTC. These rules also do not apply to IRA and similar accounts because there is no tax on the gain or loss from such transactions anyway.
