ÿÿÿÿ Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh in
Pennsylvania have developed a new "recombinant retroviral system
in which a library of infectious molecular clones" of HIV-1 is
constructed with reverse transcriptase genes.ÿ According to a new
report on the system, which is published in the December issue of
Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, the technique is able to
generate multiple infectious HIV clones from a single plasma
sample.ÿ Such a feat may help scientists understand HIV drug
resistance better.
