Joe Bastardi pretty much nails the forecast for the next 45 days. I say "pretty much", because it's vague. But take your knowledge of spring and expect typical stair-stepping up with climatology...overall below average east and above average west. As Bastardi alludes, the cold fronts dropping out of Canada will be anomalously cold.

In other words, warmer air comes up from the Gulf, cold air out of Canada clashes with it. Severe storms along the cold fronts, and rain/ice/snow along the front from OK to NJ, as it wobbles north and south. The high pressures out of Canada stall and linger over the SE US, and the back edge of these highs swells up the warm air and sets up the stage for the next cold air front to crash.

With high pressure over SE US, I hope plumes are directed into Gulf Coast of Texas & Louisiana. This will provide moisture for Texas, and then the plumes will move into Great Plains and grow along the frontal boundary.

I also see 3 moisture plumes into southern California through the end of the month. This should provide nice moisture for desert SW (& southern Rockies). Not so much for the rest of the west coast...all the flow looks directed to northern British Columbia.

I do see a solar event ~Mar 29, which should cool off west coast and cause another warmth splurge east. I hope the pineapple express cooperates and gives Pacific NW and northern Cali some needed rain.

I'll provide more specifics as I see things happen.
