"A foetus is not an egg"

Neither is a human person "an egg"! You are hoisted on your own petard!! :-)

You see, Gregoree--human beings decide when a sperm or an egg becomes a human person. Most cultures (and certainly our western civilization), have decided (on the basis of reasoned thought), that this occurs after birth.

Understanding the philosophy and the necessity behind this decision does not encourage a cavalier acceptance of abortion. Intelligent people know that abortions are never risk free--and they always impact the mental, emotional, and physical health of the potential mother.

Free thinkers would love to see all abortions become a thing of the past. They are simply unnecessary in a technologically advanced society. But having said that, one must never forget that abortion is an inviolate right of the potential mother. She may be wooed by persuasion--but never by force.
