'Re-fracking' increases with dropping oil pricesCheaper than drilling new wells

Bloomberg reports that dropping oil prices mean instead of drilling NEW wells, oil producers are going back and re-fracking OLD wells, because it's cheaper, millions of dollars cheaper.

Also, fracking technologies have improved since the wells were first fracked, and they can get oil they couldn't get before with the old fracking techniques.

The increased fracking has riled up environmentalists who thought there would be less fracking with the dropping oil prices.

Costs about 1/4 the cost of a new well, can get the production back up to where it was initially. How many times can a well be fraced? TWT
