3/13/15 Contest update
Another Friday the 13th! But this time it was the triskaidekaphobic Trillium short-sellers that had their fears confirmed (see my 2/13 update). Meanwhile, for the superstitious bullish small-cap biotech investors, the day brought a bit more good luck than bad.
Despite a down week for the broader market, at Friday’s close the Contest median was up 20.87% YTD (vs. up 20.41% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 13.75% YTD (vs. up 12.78% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 22.48% YTD (vs. up 20.38% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index, closed up 2.87% YTD (vs. up 4.04% YTD a week ago).
And the Contest lead has mutated again! Helped by a 15% allocation to CEMP, OHM’s portfolio, up 54.98% YTD, took over first place. IMAN’s portfolio, up 53.36% YTD, dropped to second place and GENE’s portfolio, up 52.18% YTD, fell to third place.
At Friday's close, 49 of the 51 Contest portfolios remained in the black with 36 beating the NBI and 22 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 19.16%
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a relaxing weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
