Both the foreground and distant objects are in focus. This implies a very small lens opening which limits available light. I was not aware that colour films of the 1940's were so sensitive. Also, foreground objects cast shadows indicating almost overhead sun, so why the heavy jackets - it's summer. Also distant objects do not cast shadows at all. Looks like a matte to me, so please advise the name of the movie.
