Thank you. You're very kind. I mean that.

OT/We've learned so much from helpful neighbors. Local soil, wind and temp conditions vary considerably even within the same valley. What we can or can't grow here, is often quite different from friends only a few miles away. If memory serves, that's called "comparative advantage" in economics. Perhaps dates for olives, or something similar, is how trading began, many thousands of years ago.

It's remarkable, and a little surprising, to experience the recurring sense of timelessness I feel about doing all this. Very fulfilling.

Saturday morning, we went to a great State Ag. Ext. workshop on how to properly prune and nurture fruit trees. Excellent slide presentation plus hands on demonstration by the agents in an orchard 1/2 hr from here.

Been going flat out the past two days, to get our trees in better shape. It's funny you mention pear trees. We're planning to plant our first two pear trees, ASA we can find the late blossoming variety we're looking for. No nursery operation nearby, so could even be a day trip.

Be back when I can, and will be more On Topic than the above.
