I do a much bigger garden in Wisconsin at my mothers.

We get an early start here, but growing must be done by mid june.

Tomatoes stop growing fruit when temperatures exceed 85 degrees at night. That can happen in early June in Houston.

Now peppers, I grow peppers all year - not that they grow in the winter but I've seen 3-4 year old Jalapeno plants that the cold does not kill.

In fact my wife has a Fairy Tale egg plant that is now 2 years old.

Strawberries are being picked now and raspberries in mid may.

Basically to hot to grow good corn or apples down here in Houston.

This last year I canned 36 quarts of salsa, 12 quarts of pickled cauliflower, 18 pints of concord grape jelly, two quarts of brussel sprouts and 12 pints of pickled mushrooms, 24 quarts of tomato juice and 180 quarts of sauerkraut.

Add to that walleye, crappe and perch along with venison I kill in Wisconsin and I'm getting close to eating very organically.

Just mostly for fun and long health I hope.

In truth I give most of it away and am totally blown away how much joy I bring to others.

Many if they are able, reciprocate with a return gift.

Bob
