we know for a fact that $11/hr. isn't too much, that is where it was in 1970
when adjusted for inflation.
The economy was in bad shape in 1970. I fact Nixon froze all wages and prices on specific things. They froze prices for specific items like T-Bone steak, sirloin, New York Strip, etc. So New York strip became Delmonico, LOL. The freeze did not work and the economy only recovered when Nixon abandoned the freeze. It was not great when Carter took over, and he did worse than Nixon!
