Dear Jane:
I think I was the person responsible for starting this discussion, because I mentioned to Jack about catching the last portion of the telecast on TBN with Hal Lindsey in which the topic of discussion was about deception in the last days and how the rapture would be a part of the plan of God. That God would send a deluding spirit to blind the eyes of the world after centuries of rejecting the truth in Christ.
Hal's statement was that the world has always wanted to get rid of all the christians and as the saying goes be careful what you hope for you may just get your desire.
The concocted reason Hitler gave for hating the Jews centered around ethnic cleansing but the real reason in my opinion was jealously and envy over prosperity, productivity, education, esteem in everything; the arts, medicine, business, inventions, ect.
So if this sounds, wierd I believe it is perfectly applicable to discuss this here because it will have a bearing on end time events, most definitely in the area of commerce , banking, education, investments ect.
If you do or do not believe in the rapture all I can say is either way, every christian should be able and willing to give up all accumulated wealth in a blinking of an eye. Not only that but for any of countless other reasons.
There is a story about a man that went to see Mr. Rothchild the banker in Vienna, Austria in the 1700's. He explained to the banker that he had amassed a fortune of one million dollars and that his only goal was to die with only that amount of money. He did not even care about growing his fortune, only to maintain what he had. He asked the Barron Rothchild what he could do that day to ensure he would accomplish his goal.
The banker pulled a derringer out of his desk drawer told him to put the barrel to his head and pull the trigger. So much for security without Christ.
Once you have Christ you have wealth unimaginable already, so whatever additional worldly gains you have, use them for God's glory, realize the time is short (either in your lifetime or until the return of the Lord ). Become good reapers as well as good sowers, and when you harvest plow it right back into God's kingdom and strive for the eternal rewards. In Christ.gregor |
