See, this is where your religion gets in the way of reality. It was liberal policies that created the middle class in this country. Conservative ones have uniformly hurt it and eventually killed it.

As to your statement as to small businesses in Seattle, show me the data. Conservatives are big on making pronouncements on the effects of policy changes, but are almost always proven wrong. Despite that, they keep making the same predictions.

So show me the numbers or STFU.

Let me put it this way. If you work a full time job and still qualify for public assistance, that ain't a living wage. Many of the companies that have employees like this, I am looking at you Walmart, spend more on stock buyback than they do on wages. And stock buyback exists primarily as a vehicle to shelter stock holders from the costs of compensating management. This method of compensating management is usually chosen because the company gets a tax break. So the tax payer pays to supplement the employees wages and to supplement management's wages and the stock holder's value. So what is the benefit to the tax payer, whom, as you and others have pointed out, pays most of the taxes?

The Right has built up this mountain of bullshit made up of debunked economic theories, ideas on taxation, pay, value of employees, value of corporations and pseudo-history that has no basis in reality. No matter how many times they fail, it is always one more time into the breech. So when Brownback slashes taxes, social services and education in Kansas and everything promptly goes to shit with all of the downside as predicted by his opponents and none of the upside predicted by his supporters, it gets hailed as a model and Brownback doubles down. And double downs again. And is about to double down yet again. With things getting worse and worse with every cycle. With all of the self-reflection of a 3 year old, we are being pushed to make these policies national, despite the abject failure of them everywhere they have been tried.
