Mandela was deviant (anti-apartheid). Society develops norms which are always in flux. Deviance can be "bad" or it can be "good"--or it can just be different. Your church has now recognised that same-sex marriage (a deviance) ought not to carry any moral opprobrium. Thank goodness! We are fortunate that Christians don't follow the bible--but merely use it for making money! And btw...millions of children grow up without a father or a mother in their orbit, so same sex marriage represents the smallest percentage of such affected children...
