Endothelial cells on the CNS blood vasculature have "tight junctions" and as such form the blood brain barrier. When these cells contract, the tight junction is lost and that is when the blood-brain barrier is breached. That is the basis for my speculation on potential direct or indirect effects on these endothelial cells that comprise the blood-brain barrier. I am not convinced that the data provides for a 'real' effect on stroke incidence.
