3/20/15 Contest update
The broad market ended the week on an upbeat, but small-cap biotechs took a bit of a breather Friday. Nonetheless, our Contest baby biotechs racked up some bubblicious weekly gains. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 25.77% YTD (vs. up 20.87% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 20.77% YTD (vs. up 13.75% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 25.46% YTD (vs. up 22.48% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 6.13% YTD (vs. up 2.87% YTD a week ago).
Once again there’s been a turnover in the Contest lead! Boosted by a 20% allocation to CAPR, IMAN’s portfolio, up 72.60% YTD, jumped back into first place. OHM’s portfolio, up 61.46% YTD, slipped to second place with MCBIO’s portfolio, up 61.41% YTD, a smidge behind in third place.
At Friday's close, 50 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the black with 34 beating the NBI and an impressive 27 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 21.98%. Incroyable!
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a relaxing weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
