Playing around with virtual box. This post is from a firefox browser running on a virtual linux mint machine.
Virtual Box is a general purpose full virtualizer for x86 hardware. It is free. Is it an alternative to dual booting.
One could call it simo-booting. You can run a virtual linux machine within windows or a vitual windows machine within linux or linux in linux or windows in windows.

from a xterm running on the mintbox.
watson@watson-mintbox ~ $ uname -a
Linux watson-mintbox 3.13.0-37-generic #64-Ubuntu SMP Mon Sep 22 21:28:38 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The watson-mintbox as I called it is running on my laptop that is running Windows 7 pro.

The laptop is an asus G74S. has an Core I72670QM 2.20 GHz It supports Virtualizations.
The response of the processes running on it show no slow down of response. I perceive no apparent delays in any responces.

This 5 minutes there are mechanical sata hard drives in the laptop. But I may replace with ssd's
