Exactly what happened today! Before I came to work CNBC reported that a con-artist (i.e. analyst) by the name of (Ralph something or another) from PainWebber (or Prudential) who has been bullish on the market was going to make a speech at 11:30EST, and sources close to the con-artist had told CNBC that his speech will express a sky is falling tone! So I wonder if the 30+ down in Nasdaq today is because of this particular con-artist, or there was something else that happened! COMS reports at the close today, so maybe the downside is in the anticipation of a horrified earnings report from COMS?!

It is only 342 days to the XMAS of 1998 and when that arrives let us all remember these past 2 months (and possibly the next 3-4 months) and how badly all high techs were/are killed, and how we (at least I) wished had a lot of cash to take advantage of the killings!

Regards,

Addi Jamshidi

P.S - Duane, do you think we will see LSI at $17 before Christmas?

You know this case of LSI reminds me of one incident that happened to me when I was in college and I would never forget as long as I live! Back in 1983 when I was a Computer Science Senior at University of Minnesota I had taken a computer graphics course. I was so excited about the class and I really studied for it too! Then came the first mid term exam and there were only 4 questions on the test all worth 100 points (total). I took the exam and to the best of my capability I tried to answer them. When I came out the exam I thought I had done so great and actually thought I would get 90-100 on the test!! Well, 2 weeks later the professor brought the exams and the first thing he did he wrote the lowest and highest score on the board (it was a very small class with probably 20 students in the class). The lowest score was 15 and the highest score was 98 (the mean was 78). Anyway, I recall telling my best friend "I wonder whp got 15?!! and smiled!. Anyway, when I got my test back I found out who had gotten the score of 15!! - It was me!!! Needless to say how terrible and depressed I felt, not to mention how shock I was!! And I remember people were wondering who had gotten the lowest score and were laughing, and I did my best so no one would find out it was me who had gotten the lowest score!!! Well, I ended up dropping that class and came to really dislike computer graphics and anything that had to do with graphics!!

Similarly earlier this year I thought LSI will be in the $60-$70 range by January! Had no idea the excuses of SEA and others willl result in LSI being in its 52 week low (or even in its 3 years low)!!

One thing worth mentioning, When I graduated in Computer science from U of Minnesota back in early 94, I despised computer graphics with passion! Ironicly for the past 10 years or so my specialty has become to be in computer graphics and graphical user interfaces, and that is how I make my living and and in fact I can not think of doing anything else except graphics and multimedia software! So everything ended up being for the best!
