No, that's not why they focus on those deaths. Think it through.
Every explanation I can think of involves white guilt.

There was some college athlete who called the little league player Mo'ne Davis a "slut." Not only was he kicked off the team, but the university he attended had to respond saying that his views don't reflect their views.

Personally, I don't think the university should have to answer to every single racist, sexist, and homophobic tweet that its students post, because it should be assumed that these Twitterheads only represent themselves.

But the university does anyway. And it all boils down to white guilt.
