John,
Good work.
I think I know where I am putting my IRA investment
for the coming year.
I will also reapportion some of the mutual funds I
have there and may put more in TMF as well.
For a non-retirement account--do you think it is better
to buy TMO/SFE/CMGI and save the fees? The only reason
I can think of to buy the CEFund is to take the guess
work out of picking the right spin offs and apportioning
the portfolio. For example, I like Thermedic Detection
which is a subsidiary of Thermedics but I only was
offered rights to 50 shares. At $10 a share it was a
meaningless investment. The only reason I excercised them
is that my in-laws gave me some of their rights which they
were unable to exercise making it a decent position.
Owning the fund would allow me to let someone else determine
the relative value of any subsidiary and the benefit of
buying it through rites or at the market.

Bruce
