Tax loss selling: The market has clobbered other stocks in Dec. Stocks like Oxford handed investors huge losses with no chance of orderly escape. Given a landscape littered with Oxford-type corpses, it makes sense that investors with huge losses in many of the marginable stocks would look to take gains where they could. TPRO is a place where many early investors can take gains and use up some of the huge losses from other stocks. Thus, shares could be coming onto the market because of some choosing to offset losses already forced upon them by taking profits in 1997. Presumbably, this could be cash set to come back into TPRO in 1998. More importantly, it is a reason to sell now if you have a big profit, and buy again later to establish a higher entry point for future taxes.
