Since IOM's drop today is out of proportion to the rest of the sector, I have decided that it must be a reaction to news and/or expected news. I would bet that some people are expecting an earnings warning any day now. Many investors are quite jittery right now, and any hint that all might not be well, such as that inexplicable comment about revenues in the press release, would be enough to scare them.

Still, I would be surprised to see Iomega miss estimates for this quarter. Since Jaz2 had not shipped as of today, with less than two weeks to go in the quarter, it would not have had a large impact in any case. We do know that Zip shipments "have surpassed 11 million" units, which is not a bad thing, no matter how some people choose to interpret it.

This has been a nasty day, but I've been through worse.
