3/27/15 Contest update
Biotech investors were afflicted by a bout of March madness on Wednesday, the kind of madness which compelled them to sell, sell, sell. Although sanity seemed restored by Friday (shorts would say insanity), biotechs wound up the week considerably less inflated.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 17.69% YTD (vs. up 25.77% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 14.43% YTD (vs. up 20.77% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 17.66% YTD (vs. up 25.46% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 3.28% YTD (vs. up 6.13% YTD a week ago).
IMAN’s portfolio, up 59.76% YTD, managed to hold the Contest lead despite shedding a dozen percentage points for the week. OHM’s portfolio, up 52.68% YTD, remained in second place with DANIEL’s portfolio, up 49.20% YTD, moving to third place.
At Friday's close, 47 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the black with 29 beating the NBI and 26 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 15.38%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week's Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a safe & fun weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
