From today's USA Today:

Spinal device gets FDA OK

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a spinal fusion device for certain people who don't respond to
nonsurgical treatment for degenerative disc disease. The disease causes discs between spinal vertebrae to break down,
causing leg and back pain. The new device is an inch-long hollow cylinder or cage. It is implanted into the disc space
between two vertebrae. The device provides an alternative to hooks and rods currently used with varying success. It
is manufactured in Minneapolis by Spine-Tech Inc.
