When you look at the possible merging partners. It leaves one to wonder just who will acquire who. Or should I say who will be the operator. Teck said they were looking to acquire a entity that would be forced to sell due to economic pressures. Antofagasta some how does not seem to totally fit that criteria. However their Esperanza operation certainly does as far as longevity & grade goes. End of mine life there is: 2059.
