Alpine Introduces World's First DVD 5.1 Channel Mobile Multimedia
System with Dolby Digital

LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Dec. 18, 1997--In collaboration with Dolby Laboratories, Alpine
Electronics, a leader in high-quality car audio and navigation products, will debut the first-ever DVD 5.1 channel car-audio
system utilizing Dolby Digital at the 1998 Winter Consumer Electronics Show in its booth at the Sands Convention Center,
Jan. 8-11.

To celebrate introducing DVD and Dolby Digital into its mobile multimedia platform, Alpine will showcase a working
prototype vehicle with this system at the show and announce production schedules and new product information at that time.

"Our enthusiasm has never been higher for a new concept in car audio," she foresight to bring DVD and Dolby Digital to the
mobile environment."

Kellogg added: "Introducing 5.1 channel audio into the car environment using the DVD video format and Dolby Digital will
instill a new level of confidence tions and motorized flip-up color LCD screens for both the front and rear seats are included,
along with surround speakers mounted in the rear ceiling panels and subwoofers in the rear cargo area. The system will
showcase a car DVD video player that will also play standard CDs.

In addition, the vehicle will also feature Alpine's car navigation system with real-time traffic information. Back seat passengers
will also be able to play Nintendo N64 format video games on the system.

Alpine's introduction of DVD and Dolby Digital car audio is expected to be a big boost for the DVD format. More than 40
percent of Alpine's specialist dealers are car-audio-only retailers. This will expose the DVD video format and Dolby Digital to
a very large group of new retailers and customers who would not likely go looking for it in a hi-fi retail store.

With North American operations based in Torrance, Calif., Alpine Electronics is one of the leading manufacturers of
high-quality car-audio systems in the world. In addition to its own brand, the company builds OEM systems for Rolls Royce,
BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Honda, Toyota, Volvo and Chrysler.

Dolby Laboratories is the developer of audio signal processing systems used worldwide in consumer audio and video
products, on consumer audio and video entertainment software and in professional sound applications that include music
recording, broadcasting and motion picture sound.

The privately held company has headquarters in San Francisco, with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Tokyo
and European headquarters in England.
