4/3/15 Contest update
Travel Alert: Taking a tip from Satchmo (see link below), my wife & I will be spending the rest of April in Portugal. She’ll be busy sketching & I’ll be busy noshing on bacalao & pasteis de nata. So no Contest updates until May.

TGIGF! Yeah, thank goodness it’s Good Friday. So panicky investors were unable to dump their stocks in reaction to today’s lousy job report. Let’s hope the cloud of fear will pass over by Monday.
Meanwhile, a big move by the most popular Contest portfolio pick, TRIL, gave the median a hefty boost. And at the end of the shortened trading week, the Contest median closed up 21.78% YTD (vs. up 17.69% YTD last Friday). However, the Nasdaq Biotech Index did not fare as well, closing up 11.85% YTD (vs. up 14.43% YTD last Friday), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 18.09% YTD (vs. up 17.66% YTD last Friday). The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 3.19% YTD (vs. up 3.28% YTD last Friday).
OHM’s portfolio, up 54.06% YTD, hopped into the Contest lead, while IMAN’s portfolio, up 53.08% YTD, slid to second place. But the major surprise of the week was BIOMAV’s portfolio, now up 52.08% YTD. Propelled by 20% allocations to TRIL & RTRX, it leapfrogged out of the pack into third place.
At Friday's close, 47 of the 51 Contest portfolios were still in the black with an astonishing 37 beating the NBI and 29 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 16.55%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Happy Spring Holidays to all the biotechies out there!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
