What has changed in Oracle?

One thing which has not changed is that Larry is very erratic and doesn't seem to have his mind on the job much of the time.

Two things have changed:

1. Oracle used to be a small high-growth company. Now it is a really big company and the bigger you get the more impossible it gets to outgrow the world economy.

2. The relational database market used to be a high-growth market, but now it is nearly stagnant. New object-oriented and object-relational technologies are emerging (some from established companies, some from new companies). More often than not, in this scenario some of the established players fail to make the transition, They become dinosaurs. They wither up and die. Oracle is currently looking like a great candidate to do this, since they bumbled Sedona and don't seem to have a clear object-oriented plan.
