I think that the overnight news out of Greece, today's downward revisions of the January and February U.S. unemployment figures, the anemic March U.S. unemployment report, and the Federal Reserve cutting the growth forecast to zero all suggests that Monday should see significant declines in the U.S. equity markets; however, I could also see the cut in the growth forecast as super-charging the growing belief that the central bank will not raise interest rates this year, and perhaps even engage in yet another round of QE. If spun that way, stocks could soar Monday, but, I don't think that will be the case. I think that Monday should be a red day on Wall Street.

What a conundrum. Lets have 2 bob each way.

I think there is too much emphasis on Greece. Sure if they default and leave the Euro block then some will find a reason to sell and the indexes will drop for a day or two. But Greece is fairly insignificant int the scheme of things and will have limited impact on the long term trend of the market. The US does not follow Europe and why should it? The rest of the world's markets take their lead from Wall Street.
The time is not right for any longer term correction. 42 months without a 10% downside correction has everyone hanging out for it but it will be short lived when it occurs.
A longer term bear market is at least 18 months away.
There will be much volatility in the months ahead and almost surely we will get a 10 - 15% correction because too many want it not to get it. It will be blamed on rising interest rates. It will be a great buying opportunity because the S&P will head toward 2500 before the $hit really sets in.
By then the Dollar will be through the roof and no one outside the US will be interested in US built products because they will be priced out of the market. And that will be the same back in your country. When every second car you see on the road has a European badge on it you will know the poop has hit the fan.
But the good news is you just need to keep the powder dry and wait till you see the whites of their eyes.
15% downside is the whites of the eyes.
Do not get sucked into this market.
It is going to take the hit we all know is going to happen and are begging for and it could be anytime soon.
