You say you 'don't' believe that we all happened by accident.

But I think you could believe we all happened by accident but you don't want to.

I think that's what happened 100,000 or so years ago when humans first became cognizant of their mortality.

They couldn't accept that their great and strongest leaders had suddenly died and ceased to exist.

They still needed those leaders or at least the societies that they had established. To accomplish that they made those leaders immortal in the only way they could. They put them in an afterlife.

After that ALL leaders DEMANDED an afterlife. They had the power and they wanted to go out in style and always be remembered. That gave rise to things like the pyramids.

What you say about 'atoms' is very true. I'm not exactly workin' with the same atoms I had 20 years ago and my recent batch ain't cuttin' it that well.

When I drink a glass of water I always marvel at the thought that the hydrogen atoms I'm ingesting are probably BILLIONS of years old.
