Yes, but TX employment growth is slipping pretty badly. A year ago, CA was growing more jobs but its percentage increase YOY was still much less than TX's percentage increase. However, as of January, that gap has narrowed to within a couple of points. TX is feeling the oil crunch:

I know you wish us ill, but I've seen a bunch of oil downturns and this is nothing so far.

I looked at your chart comparing Jan 2015 to Jan 2014. It shows TX jobs are up 3.5%. CA jobs are up 3.2%.

You think TX only beating CA in job growth by 0.3% means TX is in terrible shape??? Compared to the past decade, I guess it is.

What I think is, CA is living on the strengths of decades past ... give it another decade and TX will leave CA in the dust, like it did NY.
