Someone said something about the group at Sony that will market the HiFD being the same ones who marketed the MiniDisk. I would presume that this means they are the same ones who marketed the MiniDisk as a data device for computers, not the ones who marketed the MiniDisk as an audio device.

I'm sure most people didn't even know that the MiniDisk was available for computers. That shows you how good these people are at setting standards. The MiniDisk data drive gave you 128MB per disk, with a REALLY slow transfer rate, using a magneto-optical recording system. It was a great looking little drive, though. And the disks look cool. You can probably still buy these things.

Admittedly, the HiFD, if it ever ships, will have a better chance of finding buyers than the MiniDisk Data drive did.
