I don't know a lot about the RCC but I hope you're wrong about their lack of interest in the Bible.

One of the few things Shep is pretty much right about. Catholics are not proselytizers like born agains etc. Have you ever had one show up at your door? It's basically a philosophy of deeds not words. That doesn't mean the bible isn't taught it just isn't worn on the sleeves. I've always wondered why born agains were so hung up on memorizing the bible verse by verse.
