searching many pdf documents for text without opening them:
I'm using the latest Adobe Reader. found this by search engine

open Adobe Reader
hit 'edit' and select 'advanced search'
identify the folder holding the pdfs

fill out any other boxes [see below]
hit 'search'
results appear in a list as it searches
