Probably a few reasons if struggling . . .

consistent execution could be one . . . got to do the same thing every time . . the inexperienced don't have or aren't able to follow a plan . .

portfolio game plan another . . . what are the priorities . . . the inexperienced treat every stock the same . . they think the company analyzing crap for cancer is as good as a Facebook . . .

the biggest percentage of top gainers from BTT are the obvious ones . . the ones with core characteristics . . all the stocks on the leaders list have them and had them when listed . . they represent about a dozen to or so choices a year . . these are the best of the best . . the ones to be buying and holding . . many discussions about what characteristics they have in their reports . . these stocks stick out like a sore thumb . . BTT suggests over half of the portfolio be in these . . the experienced don't need to be told that, they know it . .

the niche group's another one that has some strong performers but they are more volatile and the percentage going up significantly is less .. . they lack certain of the attributes the core choices have . . some of the niche leaders will become core stocks . . most won't.

the other group are the stories with a lot of potential but little or no revenues . . they might become a core or niche choice a year or two but most won't . . . . right now the biotechs are part of this group . . some of these rocket up on momentum . . . . a few, like the one you mention have blockbuster potential . . that's billions in sales . . this company will probably become a core if the FDA approves their product . . lot of folks think that will happen . . that's why it's gained over 400% . .

the second and third groups make up over two thirds of the choices . . maybe it is because they make up the majority of choices or are the most recent ideas that some folks buy almost every one of them . .

in my opinion the first group should make up at least half of the portfolio . . in my margined four stock portfolio they are the only choices . . . in my IRA portfolio they'll comprise at least half of the positions . . . year in and year out the cores as a group far outperform the others . . . you only need to look at the results of the BTT leaders to realize what does best . .

another reason for struggling may have to do with having the patience and discipline to be successful as a trader . . especially for the intermediate to long term . . that's the time frame that offers the best chances for making big gains . . folks that want to jump in and out of stocks will learn they need to make a lot of small profits to make good money . . that means a high percentage of wins . . sounds good when you listen to the folks on CNBC's Fast Money at 5:00 . . how well did that group of pros do last year when they posted their top trading ideas during the year . . three of them lost money; - 4.4%, -13.4% and - 14.6% . . four of them made money . . + 20.4%; + 22.8%, 24.1% and 24.4% . . these are top notch traders . . the two biggest winners for the entire group last year were two BTT stocks . . .. and they bought them well after recommended . . short term trading is a very tough game . . only the pros have a decent chance of making money in the long run when actively trading . . . folks thinking they can do the same from their home on a part time basis may find that is wishful thinking . . .

my thoughts for what they are worth . .
