The point isn't almonds vs. tomatoes. The point is that ag has to pay its way and charge accordingly. Then, supply and demand will take over.

Many years ago we grew tomatoes and we got out of it because there wasn't enough money in it. Probably because CA was subsidizing its tomato growers by giving them cheap water (we had to pay for ours as we didn't have a well on the farm).

I can guarantee you when you're auctioning your daily pick it is supply and demand in its purest form.
