I agree with Stockman,
For those of you that think WebTV like devices are good for using the "current" WWW that we have, I believe you are looking at the picture from the wrong angle. Have you ever used WebTV or something like it? I have tried it. I cannot concieve of sitting on a couch and reading most of the Web pages (ie. Reading the Wall Street Journal Online, using SI, surfing for information, even e-mails), which contain text. It is just too uncomfortable. Also, the jpegs and gifs (graphics/pictures) on most Web pages are usually not the greatest in quality either (less K's mean easier to download on a page). It will be awhile before the Web makes it big on the TV, but I do think it will happen (ie. cable modems, xDSL, better compression, etc...).
Like Stockman said, WebTV is currently only a compliment to the PC, allowing some die hards to e-mail or see certain sites that aren't bad on the eyes from couch.
