Hi John,

At first blush I agree with you.

But when I think that in the early 1920 and 1930's NINA existed.

No Irish Need Apply.

Back then Irish and Italians were scorned on - they were the new immigrants on the block.

Today I' m married to a 24 karat Italian and no one discriminates against us.

So I think each generation has it new kid on the block.

There are subcultures that seem not to blend in and that may be were your point is.

I think to a degree many/most assimilate into the melting pot of America.

Perhaps the answer lies in addressing those that do not?

My FATHER IN LAW was a butcher, he worked in the "little Italy" of Chicago.

No doubt because his Italian sausage has greater demand there.

In 2 generations the family (2 daughters) have been blended into marrying a greek lad and an irish lad.

Now one of my nephews is dating a polish girl.
