Dear Choice Hotels,
We’re writing to inform you of a growing national grassroots effort that seeks a historic marker for the Gurnee, Illinois Comfort Inn that’s similar to a commemorative plaque that Mid-America Asset Management recently installed at the Dorchester Commons Shopping Center in Chicago, Illinois. As we’re sure you’re aware, this was all reported in the Chicago Tribune, a newspaper you might possibly deliver to many of your guests first thing in the morning (or reserve for wrapping fish in your hotel’s kitchens).
The Dorchester Commons “historic marker” commemorates the first kiss Barack Obama supposedly shared with his future-wife Michelle. The Tribune article notes that the current US President later remarked that Michelle tastes like chocolate, which was a strange detail for the article to include. Neither of us can attest if this is true, but if that’s what the Tribune says Michelle Obama tastes like we have to assume it’s true because otherwise we don’t think the newspaper would have been allowed to publish that.
Choice Hotels should take this “historic marker” as precedent and proceed with plans to install a similar historic marker in front of the Gurnee, Illinois Comfort Inn because this is the location where Barack Obama had sexual relations with Larry Sinclair from November 6-7th in 1999. These “historical activities” were recorded in great detail in Mr. Sinclair’s book, Barack Obama and Larry Sinclair: Cocaine, Sex, Lies, and Murder. To the best of our knowledge, only the “cocaine” and “sex” part of the book happened in the Gurnee, Illinois Comfort Inn.
We don’t presume to tell you what sort of “historic marker” you should install in front of this particular Comfort Inn, but seeing as how the Dorchester Commons Shopping Center received a rather large plaque for just one kiss (that “tasted like chocolate”), perhaps actual sexual relations deserve a larger monument seeing as how there’s more physical exertion involved in that.
Some people have been talking about this warranting an obelisk of some kind but if you find that too on-the-nose then maybe it could be a more modern-art type, twisty, metal sculpture that imaginative tourists could interpret as twisting limbs in coitus. Obelisks do tend to look resoundingly phallic (which is another way of saying they resemble penises).
People can be very imaginative with art, and artists can be quite talented in depicting historic events in extraordinary ways that relate the historic importance of events to future generations. No doubt that after Barack Obama leaves office people from the far corners of Illinois and other adjacent states will flock to the Comfort Inn in Gurnee, Illinois to view the location where the former President and Mr. Sinclair engaged in sexual activity and inhaled cocaine. You should actually probably look into training tour guides to assist these future tourists, as no doubt Mid-America Asset Management is doing for the Dorchester Commons Shopping Center.
Mid-America Asset Management is quoted in the Tribune article as saying a key factor in its decision to install the Dorchester Commons “historic marker” was that the public demanded it. This is why we’re letting you know of the growing grassroots movement in this country to historically mark the Gurnee, Illinois Comfort Inn for its role in the romantic encounter shared between two men back in 1999 before one of them became the President of the United States and the other achieved status as a published author and proprietor of a news-service (it was Obama who became the President and Sinclair who wrote the book, in case that’s not clear because there are books supposedly written by Obama on Amazon too).
Please begin design work immediately as we’re sure a “historic marker” takes some time to chisel and ready for installation and you’re already playing catch-up with the plaque they installed at Dorchester Commons.
Sincerely,
Kevin DuJan and Megan Fox

NOTE TO READERS: If you would like to assist in this grassroots campaign to obtain a historic marker for the Gurnee Illinois Comfort Inn, please print this letter out and send it to Choice Hotels with a note of your own encouraging them to take up this initiative.
This is an ongoing project to ensure that ALL sites in Illinois where Barack Obama kissed various people (both female and male) receive historic markers like the one at Dorchester Commons.
